To begin conceptual process for Good Ol’ Bad Days, I compiled various ideas and inspiration in to a moodboard for Aaron and his team to review. I was particularly drawn to the colour orange, and the the weathered typefaces that looked like they had come fresh off a printing press. Aaron’s style, message and sound reminded me of a return to weathered vintage nostalgia and rebel rock; the “good ol’ bad days”.

Additional elements were hand drawn with ink on paper, then scanned and rigged in After Effects to draw itself out.

Because Futura was used so popularly for general display and printing particularly between the 30s and 50s, I used it with this project because it has a vintage familiarity and looks even more eye catching when weatheredness is applied to it. Adding…

Because Futura was used so popularly for general display and printing particularly between the 30s and 50s, I used it with this project because it has a vintage familiarity and looks even more eye catching when weatheredness is applied to it. Adding in a border gave the whole project a postcard look, when connected with the song, makes the viewer feel like a recipient of days gone past.
